Did Ranveer Singh and Prakash Padukone ROAST Dhruv Rathee for 'Dhurandhar' criticism? Fans spot 'Bhavandar: The Tornado' poster in ad

Ranveer Singh and father-in-law, Prakash Padukone teamed up for a new ad that has taken social media by storm for its tongue-in-cheek humour. The actor and Badminton legend teamed up for a new promotional campaign, their first on-screen venture together. The actor was seen being the perfect girl-dad, picking up a unicorn toy while Prakash also picked up a cute sheep ice cream. The two then head to the cinema, where Ranveer buys them movie tickets.

Fans spot ‘Bhavandar: The Tornado’ poster

Interestingly, the movie that two were going to see was titled ‘Bhavandar: The Tornado’. Besides holding popcorn buckets with the film’s poster on it, fans also noticed the large posted displayed on the screens behind Ranveer and Prakash. It didn’t take them too long to wonder if the poster was a subtle response to YouTuber Dhruv Rathee’s criticism of Singh’s box office blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’.

Fans react to alleged dig

Many social media users interpreted the visuals as Singh and Padukone roasting Rathee’s criticism of the film, dubbing them as ‘propaganda’. Taking to the comments, one fan said, “The “bhavandar” post behind them though,” while another added, “‘bhavandar’ directed by dhruv rathee was funny.’Still another said, “wait i’m crying the movie advertised behind them is BHAVANDAR.” Another added, “This is so meta joke… Bhavandar…”

About the controversy

Rathee stirred controversy with his video criticising the Aditya Dhar film, alleging that it had pushed a political narrative. His comments and criticism of the film triggered widespread reactions online, with audiences supporting his views and others defending the film’s creative choices.

‘Dhurandhar’ box office success

Despite criticism, the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise has gone on to become the first to cross the Rs 3,000 crore mark with just two films. While part one earned a worldwide total of Rs 1,300 crore, Part Two crossed the Rs 1,700 crore mark in just 24 days. With the film expected to run in theatres for a few more weeks, it is now chasing the box office records of ‘Pushpa 2’ and ‘Baahubali 2’.
