Katy Perry DENIES Ruby Rose's allegations of sexual assault; actress files police report

TRIGGER WARNING: This article includes references to sexual abuse.Pop star Katy Perry has vehemently denied allegations of sexual assault made by actor Ruby Rose. In a statement released hours after the allegations were posted online, Katy rubbished the claims calling them “categorically false.”

In a statement to TMZ, Perry’s representative said, “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies. Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

The response came hours after Rose publicly accused Perry of sexually assaulting her nearly two decades ago. The Orange Is the New Black star alleged the incident occurred at a nightclub in Melbourne, writing on social media, “Katy Perry sexual [sic] assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a [damn] what she thinks.”Explaining the delay in speaking out, Rose said, “I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly. Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me.”She further shared, “Before I open up about something incredibly raw and traumatic, I tell myself ‘it’s ok, you don’t need people to believe you, you just need to get it out of your poor body, before it gives you cancer,’ But then I see this post and … tears consume me, in a good way. Thank you.”Rose later stated that she intended to approach authorities, writing that she would go to a police station to see if an investigation into “any of my experiences” of assault could be initiated. “I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try. I have a long list,” she added, noting she had previously been hesitant as she had “been too wounded and afraid to take the appropriate steps because I know the system seldom works.”

Hours later, she confirmed taking action, posting, “I did it.” She added, “I will write about the process of reporting. Both crimes that occurred when you were a child, and those that occurred as an adult ( at least in Australia), But for now I will just say that I was surprised to find the reporting process to be ok.”“Just left the police station,” Rose wrote and added, “said names inside the station that hold much power than me. I feel very relieved so far but have no expectations.”

Sexual assault allegations against Katy Perry over the years

The allegations have resurfaced past controversies involving Perry. In 2019, actor Josh Kloss, who appeared in her “Teenage Dream” music video, accused the singer of misconduct, including an incident in which he alleged she exposed him without consent. Around the same time, Georgian TV host Tina Kandelaki claimed Perry had acted inappropriately towards her at an industry event.An earlier incident during a 2018 audition for American Idol also drew attention, when Perry kissed contestant Benjamin Glaze on the lips without warning. Glaze later said he did not consider it sexual harassment, though he acknowledged it made him uncomfortable.
