When asked about honouring his late castmates, Levinson shared with Variety, “Losing Angus Cloud was very hard for us as a production. I loved him very deeply and I fought hard to keep him clean.”Further talking about ‘Euphoria’ marking Eric Dane’s final screen performance, he said, “Eric called me before we started shooting and told me he had been diagnosed with ASL. We had a very long conversation, we talked about life and work. I was very close to him. I love him dearly and I told him, ‘Look Eric, I’ll take you in whatever way you want to show up. If you tell me that you don’t want to do it, that’s fine. There is no pressure. If you tell me you wanna come and play around on set, I’m down for that too.”While revealing that Dane was worried about how fast he was deteriorating, he shared that they had a blast on set. “He showed up on set with such grace and dignity and was a constant professional. I miss him,” He said and added that Dane is “terrific this season”.

Sam Levinson on Angus Cloud’s overdose

At the premiere, he also gave a speech, remembering Angus. He said, “I tried hard to keep him clean. The year he died, 2023, he was one of 73,000 people in America who died of a fatal overdose. I learnt a whole lot that year. But what I realised more than anything was that death is what gives life meaning. You are forced to reckon with the fact that life itself is a wonder, a gift, a profound lesson.”
